Admission requirements
- Interested parties must provide proof of university entrance qualification or
- have completed at least a 2-year vocational training and at least 3 years of professional experience, as well as evidence of participation in further training events.
- Also crucial for access to this degree program may be a three-year training completed from the year 2003 onwards in nursing, pediatric nursing, or elderly care. Admission with a qualification obtained before 2003 will be individually assessed.

The Bachelor of Science in "Nursing" at the APOLLON University of Health Sciences is aimed at working nursing professionals with a completed three-year training in nursing, pediatric nursing, geriatric nursing, or as a nursing specialist. The study is part-time and comprises 180 credit points according to the ECTS system, with 90 CP potentially being credited due to previous education.
The focus of the program is on deepening nursing scientific expertise and academizing the nursing profession. Students should be enabled to design complex nursing processes based on evidence and to work in both inpatient and outpatient care facilities. A strong focus on research and methods supports the theory-practice transfer.
The program consists of a total of 25 modules, divided into the first study section with virtual modules and the second study section with mandatory and elective modules. The total workload amounts to 5,400 hours, of which 2,700 hours are allocated to creditable competencies.
The study covers various topics to prepare students for professional nursing, including:
- Studying nursing
- Supporting people in need of care in movement and self-care
- Communication-oriented communication
- Health promotion and preventive action
- Support in acute situations
- Rehabilitative nursing action in interprofessional teams
- Accompanying people in critical life situations and in the final phase of life
- Promoting development and health in childhood and adolescence
- Supporting people with mental health problems and cognitive impairments
Furthermore, students learn to work scientifically, communicate and present professionally. This includes an introduction to scientific work, project management, communication, visualization, presentation, and moderation.
In the elective area, students can choose between different focuses such as Palliative Care, Nursing Counseling and Case Management, digitized nursing, Human Resource Management, or Nursing Controlling.
The program concludes with the preparation of a Bachelor's thesis, in which students can apply and deepen their acquired knowledge.
The Bachelor's program in "Nursing" is accredited by the Accreditation Council and aims to qualify nursing professionals at qualification level 6 according to the German Qualifications Framework for the theory-practice transfer in nursing. The university offers extensive services and close student support within the distance learning program.
