APOLLON University of Health Care Management

The APOLLON University of Health Sciences is a state-recognised, private university of applied sciences based in Bremen, founded in 2005. The institution is operated by APOLLON University of Health Sciences GmbH, a member of the renowned Klett Group, one of Europe's leading educational companies with activities in 18 countries. The university specialises in academic training and further education in the fields of healthcare and social services, following a consistent concept of part-time distance learning.

The university's range of courses is diverse, currently comprising 21 state-recognised bachelor's and master's programmes as well as over 70 certificate courses. The programmes cover areas such as health economics, nursing management, applied psychology, public health, medical technology management, social work, vocational education, health tourism, applied therapy sciences, and more.

The programmes are approved by the Distance Learning Commission (ZFU) and accredited by the accreditation agencies FIBAA and AHPGS. Additionally, the university holds institutional accreditation from the German Council of Science and Humanities.

The teaching and learning concepts at APOLLON University are distinguished by a high level of practical relevance, digital media variety, and maximum flexibility. Students receive modern study materials such as e-books, web-based trainings, instructional videos, and audio materials through a digital learning platform, the APOLLON Online Campus. Exams can be taken online up to twelve times a year as open-book exams or at numerous exam centres in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland, as well as globally at Goethe Institutes and consulates.

The study concept is particularly designed to meet the needs of working adults. Enrollment is possible at any time, with no fixed semester schedules. Students can flexibly pause and extend their studies at no extra cost. Individuals without a high school diploma can access the programmes through vocational qualifications. A four-week free trial period allows interested parties to test the study concept in advance.

Research and science are highly valued at APOLLON University. Research-based learning is an integral part of teaching, involving research-oriented theses and extracurricular offerings such as the Health Care Journal Club. International experiences can be gained through summer schools at partner universities like Riga Stradins University and FH Joanneum in Graz, focusing on topics such as digital healthcare, public health, and gerontology.

Sustainability, equality, and inclusion are central elements of the university profile. The university has been repeatedly honoured as a family-friendly university, including receiving the Bremen label "family-friendly excellence." Collaborations also exist with other universities such as Wilhelm Büchner University, European University of Applied Sciences Hamburg, and California State University Sacramento.

APOLLON University is a member of numerous relevant professional and industry associations, including the Association for Tourism and Leisure Education and Research (ATLAS), the German Library Association (DBV), the German Society for Health Economics (dggö), the German Society for Academic Continuing Education and Distance Learning (DGWF), the EADL (European Association for Distance Learning), the Association of Private Universities (VPH), the Association of Health Universities e.V., Health Care Rheinland e.V., and "Family in the University."

Currently, over 5,000 students and 600 certificate participants are enrolled at the university. They are supported in their studies by more than 200 qualified lecturers from academia and practice.
