What Formal Requirements Apply for Admission?
Admission to the distance learning programme is based on the Bremen Higher Education Act and is possible via two routes:
- Direct entry with university entrance qualification: General university entrance qualification (Abitur), advanced technical college entrance qualification or subject-specific university entrance qualification.
- Entry with professional qualifications:
- Master craftsman’s certificate, business administrator, a completed 3-year relevant vocational training or comparable professional advancement training
- University degree or an equivalent foreign university entrance qualification (recognition examination required)
- Entry following an assessment test: Completed vocational training of at least 2 years in a professionally relevant field or corresponding relevant professional experience. In this case, successful participation in an assessment test is required.
Admission is also possible if you do not yet have a university degree but can demonstrate sufficient professional experience and relevant vocational training. Entry is without a numerus clausus and can be applied for at any time of the year.
You should have an interest in health-related issues and preventive concepts. Analytical thinking, problem-solving skills as well as basic communication and presentation skills are advantageous. Experience in healthcare, social or educational sectors facilitates entry but is not a mandatory requirement. Important are self-motivation, perseverance and the willingness to study independently and in a structured manner through distance learning.

In the Bachelor's degree programme Prevention and Health Management, you will acquire a broad and practice-oriented range of skills specifically tailored to the requirements of the healthcare sector. The study programme equips you with the ability to independently design, implement and methodically evaluate prevention measures and health promotion projects.
- Public Health and Prevention: Fundamentals of health promotion, basic epidemiological knowledge, target group analysis, development and management of prevention concepts
- Health Psychology & Communication: Psychology of health-related behaviour, motivation management, conducting conversations, presentation and moderation
- Workplace Health Promotion: Planning and implementation of measures at the workplace, development of strategies for different occupational groups
- Health Economics and Management: Evaluation and management of health projects, introduction to business administration, project management, quality assurance, evaluation of measures
- Law & Policy in Healthcare: Legal framework conditions, national and international health systems, health policy issues
- Medical & Sociological Fundamentals: Prevention of chronic diseases and infections, health inequalities, environmental influences
- Digital Health Promotion: Use of digital media in prevention and health education, development and reflection of digital concepts
- Internship and Elective Modules: Application of learned material in a recognised internship as well as specialisation, e.g. in sports prevention, nutritional prevention, health education or mental health
You can acquire qualifying supplementary qualifications, such as the BBGM certificate “Specialist in Workplace Health Management” (Level 1). The course enables you to develop, manage and evaluate health projects for different target groups and settings.
Course Structure
The programme is designed as a flexible distance learning course and is ideally suited for working professionals. You work independently and receive all materials digitally via the online campus, optionally also as a print version.

Examinations can be taken decentralised and online; alternatively, numerous examination centres are available in Germany, Austria, Switzerland and worldwide. APOLLON University is based in Bremen, but you are not tied to any specific location.
