Admission requirements

The admission requirements for the Master's programme in Hospital Management are as follows:

  • Eligibility to study in Master's programmes according to § 39 of the Hamburg Higher Education Act (HmbHG)
  • A successfully completed relevant Bachelor's degree in the fields of medicine, health, social sciences or nursing, as well as in a related subject area
  • Basic medical knowledge is required or must be acquired, for example, as a bridging course through the additional completion of the modules Medicine I and II of the Bachelor's programme Medical Controlling and Management

The programmes at MSH Medical School Hamburg are free from entrance restrictions (NC): Talent, motivation and discipline count more than the grade point average on the certificate. Punctuality, good performance and commitment during the studies, however, are of great importance.

Students of the Master's degree programme in Hospital Management at the Faculty of Health Sciences (University of Applied Sciences) of the MSH acquire comprehensive competencies for working in the main fields of management in healthcare institutions. These include, in particular, the management of hospitals, medical care centres or rehabilitation facilities, as well as consultancy activities for consultants in the healthcare sector, pharmaceutical companies, insurance providers and health and social authorities.

From medical ethics to medical and hospital law to communication psychology: the concept of the Master's degree programme in Hospital Management takes current scientific findings as well as professional practice into account and leads to professional and scientific competence in action. The qualification objectives therefore include both subject-specific and interdisciplinary aspects in the areas of scientific qualification, knowledge of macroeconomic and business management expertise with specialised and interdisciplinary knowledge of the healthcare sector and fundamental medical subject matter.
