What admission requirements must you meet?
For admission to the Bachelor’s degree in Real Estate at EBZ Business School, one of the following formal requirements applies:
- General university entrance qualification (Abitur), subject-specific university entrance qualification or university of applied sciences entrance qualification
- Vocational qualification, for example, a completed vocational training with at least three years of relevant professional experience
- An equivalent, recognised prior qualification according to the respective state legal regulations
You should have an interest in economic, technical and legal contexts within the real estate industry. Analytical thinking skills, a structured working method and strong communication skills are helpful, as the programme involves project-based work, team communication and interdisciplinary collaboration. Openness to digital developments as well as the willingness to take responsibility in projects are advantageous. Initial practical experience, for example through training or an internship in the real estate sector, is beneficial but not mandatory. Self-organisation and self-motivation are particularly important personal prerequisites in part-time or distance learning.
Course Content in Detail: What Will You Learn in the Bachelor of Real Estate?
In the "Real Estate" degree programme at EBZ Business School, you engage with all key areas of the real estate industry. You develop a solid understanding of the economic, technical, and legal fundamentals of this sector. Topics covered include property valuation, investment calculation, data management, and energy management in buildings. A special focus is placed on the interplay between sustainability, economic efficiency, and societal factors in the planning and control of real estate projects.
Before starting your studies, you choose one of four specialisations to sharpen your profile:
- Property Management: Holistic planning, financing, and management of real estate projects, including site analysis and marketing as well as managing project developments and investment decisions.
- Digitalisation: Analysis and design of digital business models, process digitalisation and application of modern technologies (ERP/CRM systems), development of digital strategies, and management of hybrid work cultures.
- International Management: Strategic planning and execution of international real estate transactions, intercultural communication, legal and tax-specific aspects, risk management, and ESG analyses in a global context.
- Municipal Real Estate Industry: Sustainable development and management of municipal real estate portfolios, procurement law, building regulations, energy efficiency, digitalisation, and citizen participation.
Additionally, you acquire methodological skills, including the application of scientific methods, analytical thinking, teamwork in interdisciplinary groups, and professional communication with experts from architecture, engineering, law, and management.
How Does the Degree Programme Work?
The course lasts 6 semesters (full-time) or 7 semesters (part-time alongside work) and is divided into various teaching formats. At the start of your studies, you choose from the following organisational formats:
- Full-time on-campus study at the Bochum campus: Regular classes, personal support, direct exchange with lecturers and fellow students. Intake each winter semester.
- Part-time alongside work: On-site sessions at the Bochum or Hamburg locations or as a digital distance learning programme. Start possible in summer or winter semester. The organisation is tailored to working professionals.
- Distance learning (digital): Flexible online studies with virtual classes, digital content, and optional on-site offerings.
The curriculum consists of foundational seminars, subject-specific modules, and the chosen specialisation (from the 4th semester onwards). During the course, you work on practical projects and participate in interactive classes. There is also an integrated interim qualification (“Residential and Real Estate Manager (EBZ)”, after the 4th semester) and the option to obtain certification as a DVP-ZERT® Project Assistant. For an additional fee, you can also acquire the qualification “Real Estate Economist (GdW)”.

Costs and Financing: How Much Does the Real Estate Degree Cost and How Can You Finance It?
The costs depend on the study format and location:
- Full-time study (6 semesters, on-site): €4,080 per semester, total of €24,480. Monthly payment: €680.
- Part-time alongside work (7 semesters):
- On-site or block study: €3,480 per semester, total of €24,360. Monthly payment: €580.
- Digital distance learning: €2,280 per semester, total of €15,960. Monthly payment: €380.
- Digital distance learning + individual on-site components: €2,880 per semester, total of €20,160. Monthly payment: €480.
There is also a one-time enrolment fee of €550. No examination fees apply. Your financing options include:
