You are the born strategist? To successfully position companies in the market, they must continuously develop the entire business or individual business areas. This is often the exciting task of business development managers. At CBS, you can complete a Business Development Manager degree - as a master's programme and thus as further qualification after any type of bachelor's degree. With this dual study programme, which lasts only 4 semesters and takes place mainly on block weekends, you have the opportunity to fully engage in your profession at an attractive partner company while studying efficiently.

For successful business development, there are many more tools and skills than a generalist bachelor's degree can provide. You need to understand markets, competitors, and customers in order to find or develop competitive advantages for your own goods and services. Afterwards, you create cost-benefit analyses, business plans, scenarios, as well as production and resource plans for the most promising ideas and business areas, which you then give to management as operational or strategic recommendations.

Work in a creative, innovative environment and bring your analytical skills and negotiation skills to the table every day. Are you looking to pursue a career path that offers little routine, a lot of say, and plenty of future visions? Then study Business Development Management and drive innovation and change processes.

What is Business Development?

Business Development is the English term for business development, business expansion, and partly also for business initiation. This means setting the right course so that the company first finds buyers for its current and future products and services, and secondly, how its own business model should be slowly optimized or radically reformed to keep up with or stay ahead of the competition. Business Development is usually directly assigned to top management or anchored at the executive level. Business Development sometimes has very short-term goals, for example, if sales in a business area develop weaker than hoped, quick adjustments need to be made by looking for solutions together with product managers, marketing, and sales. Most tasks, however, have a long-term horizon: If market entry into a new foreign market seems attractive and therefore the construction of a factory and the establishment of a sales organization are required, the chance-risk analysis is very demanding.

However, the majority of Business Development is communication, internally with management, product management, sales, and marketing, as well as externally with current or potential customers and partners.
