What formal requirements apply for admission?
You can enrol in the Bachelor’s programme with the following requirements:
- With Abitur or Fachhochschulreife: General or subject-specific university entrance qualification entitles you to start the programme directly.
- Without Abitur, but with professional qualification: You will also be admitted with a subject-specific further training qualification, e.g. as a master craftsman/woman, business administrator (Fachwirt/in), IHK business economist or comparable qualifications.
- Without Abitur, with completed vocational training: If you have completed a recognised vocational training of at least two years and subsequently worked for at least three years in a related field, you can be admitted after passing a trial study phase.
- Recognition of prior achievements: Previously completed further training or study modules can be recognised and credited towards the study duration after individual assessment (e.g. up to 90 credits for a business administrator or business specialist, which corresponds to up to 50% of the standard study period).
A Numerus Clausus (NC) is not required. Start of studies is possible at any time.
For the distance learning programme, you should bring self-motivation, perseverance and good time management skills. An interest in economic contexts, analytical thinking and willingness to engage with digital work and communication methods are advantageous. Some initial experience in a professional field or basic commercial knowledge is helpful but not a prerequisite. Communication skills, a structured working method and openness to interdisciplinary questions support your success in the programme.

The programme is designed as a flexible distance learning course and can be started at any desired time. The standard period of study is 36 or 48 months, with a free extension of 18 or 24 months possible. An individual study plan, adapted to your life situation, can be realised at any time.
- Learning organisation: Study materials are available in print, digital and audio formats. You learn independently of time and place and at your own pace.
- Online campus: Central platform for study organisation, communication and access to teaching materials; all functions can also be accessed via app.
- Examinations: Can be taken flexibly every month online or at ten examination centres nationwide. The examination date can be postponed if necessary.
- Attendance seminars: Three mandatory two-day seminars, mostly organised online, focusing on soft skills, teamwork and practical application of content.
