Admission requirements
Access to the course of study is granted to those who
- can demonstrate a first academic degree (Bachelor or Diploma) in the fields of Social Work, Early Childhood and Childhood Education, Educational Science or Special Education, or alternatively a teaching degree. This study should have been completed with a grade of 2.5 or better
- and can prove accompanying practical experience amounting to at least 25% of a full-time position (professional activity or internship). Students who are on a professional break can alternatively provide proof of one year’s work experience.

In the Master's programme in Social Work with a focus on Child and Youth Welfare, you engage with the question of how institutions and organisations in child and youth welfare can deal with the demands of globalization, digitalisation and economisation, as well as increasingly complex situations of endangerment and risk faced by young people. The development and implementation of innovative concepts, from conception through planning and execution to implementation and evaluation, are at the heart of the study programme.
The programme is aimed at individuals who already hold a first academic degree in education or social pedagogy. It is especially intended for those who wish to further qualify themselves in conceptual work within fields of practice in social work related to child and youth welfare.
In the programme, you deepen and broaden your professional expertise in client-oriented, concept-related and organisation-related activities in the various fields of child and youth welfare. You acquire knowledge and skills in the areas of theoretical, economic and legal foundations of social work, fields of practice and services of youth welfare, social pedagogical methods and diagnostics, administrative and business management frameworks as well as in practice research and evaluation. You deepen your knowledge and skills in cross-field cooperation in multiprofessional teams as well as in inter-institutional cooperation and networking.

They must also be able to prove that they have completed at least 25% of a full-time position (professional activity or work shadowing) during their studies. Students who have taken a career break can alternatively provide evidence of one year's work experience.
