Admission requirements

You can be admitted to the Master's degree programme Social Work: Psychosocial Counselling and Health Promotion at SRH University Heidelberg,

  • if you hold a Bachelor of Arts (or diploma/state examination) in Social Work with an overall grade of at least "good"
  • or another first-level degree in social or human sciences (e.g. Educational Science, Sociology, Philosophy, Political Science, Early Childhood Education, Special and Curative Education, Psychology, Music Therapy, Social Law and Health Promotion) with at least six semesters of study at a university or a state-recognised university of applied sciences or college.

If you come from abroad, you can be admitted,

  • if you can provide a university entrance qualification through certificates of your previous education and sufficient German language skills (DSH or TestDaF examination).

Details

The master's degree programme in Social Work: Psychosocial Counselling and Health Promotion at SRH University Heidelberg is designed to provide you with competencies in counselling and health promotion and to deepen these. In the first year of study, the focus is on building foundational knowledge, while in the second year the emphasis is on the application, deepening, and reflection of what has been learned. During the practical phase, there is the opportunity to become closely acquainted with counselling and health promotion and to try them out yourself. At the end of the programme, you will develop and/or carry out a student project in the field of counselling or health promotion.

Learning content includes, among other things, theories of social work, counselling science, psychosocial counselling, as well as health sciences and health promotion. A close connection between theoretical knowledge and practical experience is offered to ensure adequate preparation for the challenges in the profession.
