Details
The accredited and professionally recognised degree programme in Psychology (Bachelor of Science) can be studied without admission restrictions, i.e. without Numerus Clausus (without NC), at the campus locations in Berlin, Ismaning near Munich, and Unna near Dortmund. The great advantage of studying Psychology at the DHGS German University of Health and Sport lies, in addition to the excellent academic training, in our innovative semi-virtual study model. We like to call it Study 2.0. This study concept combines an online-supported distance learning programme with a traditional on-campus course, bringing together the specific benefits of both study formats. At the heart of the programme is the theory-practice transfer for the early and consistent promotion of our students’ practical skills. This deliberately strong practical orientation ensures that students develop faster and more sustainably than those at public universities. This aspect can be further enhanced when the course is carried out as a work-integrated or dual study programme. Most of the time, you will use a technically advanced learning platform based on the latest e-learning standards. This online platform contains integrated communication tools for mutual exchange with fellow students and lecturers. The subject knowledge in Psychology is conveyed through multimedia study materials. By using a variety of media, different senses are addressed, leading to a more enjoyable learning experience and quicker learning success.
The Bachelor's degree programme in Psychology and Mental Health is designed for 7 semesters: the delivery of the specialised psychological content spans 6 semesters, with the first to fourth semesters covering the fundamentals of the subject, the fifth semester being a practical semester, and the sixth and seventh semesters focusing on the health sciences specialisation. In the basic section, you acquire the theoretical and methodological knowledge necessary for the course of study. Afterwards, in the 6th and 7th semesters, you deepen and expand your knowledge in clinical psychology and fundamental forms of psychological interventions. The range is supplemented by content from health psychology and career-preparatory courses. In addition, we offer an elective area in the 4th and 6th semesters that relates to various psychology-relevant fields of application. Throughout your studies, you will be trained in selected key qualifications that provide you with instrumental and research-relevant competencies.

Generally, applicants must hold a general university entrance qualification (Allgemeine Hochschulreife) or a university of applied sciences entrance qualification (Fachhochschulreife). Equivalent international qualifications are also accepted; however, the equivalence of foreign school-leaving certificates may need to be officially assessed by the Central Office for Foreign Education (Zentralstelle für ausländisches Bildungswesen, ZAB), depending on the country and document type.
Foreign applicants who have obtained their higher education entrance qualification in non-German-speaking countries must prove their German language skills by providing a recognized language certificate.
The application process is structured into several steps. First, applicants register online via the university’s official application portal: https://anmeldung.dhgs-hochschule.de/. After signing the study contract, access to the document portal is provided via email. Applicants are then required to upload several documents, including a copy of their ID, a passport photo, proof of university entrance qualification, a certificate of health insurance coverage, and—if applicable—documents such as a certificate of de-registration from a previous university, a transcript of academic records, or a language certificate. Officially certified copies of transcripts and diplomas must be submitted by post for final enrollment; scanned versions are sufficient only for the initial review.
It is important to note that this program follows a semi-virtual learning model. This means it combines online study phases with scheduled in-person attendance.
