The distance learning program "Business Informatics" offered by the European Distance University Hamburg GmbH leads to a Bachelor of Science degree and comprises a total of 180 ECTS credits. The standard period of study is 36 months.
The course starts with an introduction to studying and scientific work, followed by topics such as data competence, general business administration, quantitative methods, basics of computer science specifically for business informatics, English for business use, and fundamentals of accounting.
Further course contents include operating systems, databases, project management, coding, controlling and finance, corporate information systems, methods and techniques of knowledge management, enterprise resource planning (SAP), operations, software engineering, product lifecycle management, personnel, leadership and organization, business engineering, web technologies, and cloud computing. The degree is completed with the bachelor's thesis and the choice of one of six optional modules: IT strategy and management, digital transformation, logistics and supply chain management, big data management, business intelligence, IT solution engineering.
The course includes 8 days of on-site seminars (a total of 64 teaching hours) and 14 online seminars (a total of 40 teaching hours). The focus is on imparting a wide range of skills in the field of business informatics to prepare graduates for a variety of career prospects.
