In addition, you will need a practical partner from a relevant professional field (e.g. sports club, social institution, educational institution) by the start of your studies at the latest. The university’s selection process also takes into account your school grades, your letter of motivation, sports- or professionally-related practical experience (such as licences, certificates), voluntary commitment and – if available – recommendations (e.g. from the regional sports federation).
You are expected to have an interest in educational and sports-related issues, perseverance in the dual study format as well as practical motivation. Experience in dealing with children, young people, or other target groups is helpful – for example from sports clubs, voluntary work, or social work. You should have teamwork skills and communication ability, be open to new methods and enjoy motivating others and supporting their development. Strong organisational skills and the ability to work independently are advantageous in order to successfully combine theory and practice phases.

How is the dual degree in Movement and Sports Education organised?
The course is designed as a dual degree with an innovative blended-learning concept. It combines university studies, practical training and the acquisition of additional qualifications. The duration of study is six semesters (three years) and comprises 180 ECTS credits.
- Regular alternation between practical and face-to-face phases: four weeks of practical phase with your practical partner, followed by one week of attendance teaching at the university in Potsdam.
- Online self-study: accompanying e-learning elements enable flexible and individual scheduling of learning time.
- An average of 25 hours of practical work per week allows you to gain solid work experience as well as personal balance at the same time.
- Optional triple qualification: degree, IHK vocational training and DOSB licences possible in one course.
- Studies begin each winter semester (1 October).

The university is located at Olympischer Weg 7 in Potsdam, which enables good connections and networking with sporting institutions in the region. The organisation foresees:
- Face-to-face phases at the University of Applied Sciences in Potsdam (one week per block)
- Practical phases with a selected practical partner – such as kindergartens, clubs, public institutions or companies in the leisure and health sector (possible nationwide)
- Individual support and study counselling on site by the university team
The technical and infrastructural equipment of the FHSMP is geared towards the requirements of a practice-oriented and digital course, thereby ensuring a modern daily study routine.
What costs are incurred for the course and what financing options are available?
For the Bachelor's degree in Movement and Sports Education at the FHSMP, the monthly tuition fee is €499. As part of the university’s all-inclusive principle, all study services, examination fees and other relevant costs during the standard period of study are already covered. No additional fees are incurred during the standard period of study and the tuition fee remains constant during this time.
- Cost coverage by the practical partner: In most cases, practical companies fully cover the tuition fees for their dual students.
- Training allowance possible: Many practical partners pay their students an additional training allowance.
- Further financing options: In addition to the salary from the practical partner, state funding such as BAföG, scholarships or education loans can be utilised.
