Details
Speech therapists are trained to address speech and voice problems as well as hearing impairments. It is increasingly important that speech therapists can demonstrate interdisciplinary and scientific knowledge in their daily professional lives. The Speech Therapy (B.Sc.) degree at the Faculty of Health Sciences at MSH Medical School Hamburg is practice-oriented while constantly keeping the latest scientific findings and methods in view. In this way, our graduates are optimally prepared for their professional future.
Double degree in four years
The bachelor's degree in Speech Therapy starts simultaneously with the training to become a speech therapist at the vocational school. The first six semesters run alongside the training. Scientific learning and practical professional training go hand in hand. After the 6th semester and the completion of state-recognised speech therapist qualifications, two full-time semesters follow. At the end, students have the Bachelor of Science degree and thus a double qualification.
Interdisciplinary knowledge
The study programme initially covers theoretical content, such as scientific methods and legal frameworks. In addition, you will learn social skills and communication techniques, which prepare you optimally for advising patients and leading teams. Of course, basic business administration is also part of the course, which you can apply in clinics or practices, training centres or rehabilitation facilities.
Specialisation in neuro and health sciences
Management, psychology, law and linguistics: interdisciplinary knowledge is now indispensable in speech therapy. Therefore, MSH offers students an interdisciplinary education. A particular emphasis is placed on the subjects of neuro and health sciences.
Those who have completed the Speech Therapy (B.Sc.) degree at MSH not only possess solid practical and theoretical knowledge but have also engaged intensively with the subject matter scientifically. The acquired overview of current research findings helps to identify suitable diagnostic and therapeutic methods in everyday professional life and to apply them individually for the benefit of the patient.
The bachelor's degree programme is officially recognised by the state and professionally accredited.
