Admission requirements

The following admission requirements apply for entry into the Bachelor's degree programme Medical Controlling and Management:

  • General university entrance qualification, subject-specific university entrance qualification, or the advanced technical college entrance qualification according to § 37 HmbHG
  • or special access for working professionals according to § 38 HmbHG via an entrance examination (in accordance with the entrance examination regulations) 

The degree programmes at MSH Medical School Hamburg are free of NC restrictions: talent, motivation, and discipline count more than the grade point average on the certificate. Punctuality, good performance, and commitment during the studies, however, are of great importance.

In the Bachelor's degree programme Medical Controlling and Management at the Faculty of Health Sciences of the MSH Medical School Hamburg, students acquire comprehensive business administration fundamentals and at the same time gain essential content of health economics as well as basic medical knowledge through practical and well-founded training. The consistent combination of the disciplines business administration, medicine, and management develops skills to work successfully in areas such as operational and strategic medical controlling, corporate development, project management office, quality management, or as an assistant to the management board, and to take on leadership and managerial responsibilities in everyday work.

The aim is to provide students with sound knowledge of key documentation, coding, and billing processes, which are central components of revenue assurance and thus crucial for the economic success of healthcare institutions. Additionally, they acquire extensive competencies in the fields of macro- and microeconomics as well as health economics.
