📖 Course contents The M.A. Pedagogy for Health Professions study programme qualifies graduates, upon successful completion, to: develop communicative competencies, such as interdisciplinary thinking and ability to act, as well as communication and counselling skills; integrate their own knowledge into more complex contexts and act responsibly with civic engagement; cultivate a stable, resilient, and well-balanced personality with pronounced empathy for pedagogical tasks; adopt a self-critical and reflective stance to ensure the performance of a professional role, taking into account their own personality traits and based on a reflective worldview and understanding of humanity; expand their "soft skills," interdisciplinary social competencies, and comprehensive action, methodological, social, and personal skills, and assume responsible positions.

Admission requirements

Formal admission requirement for the M.A. Pedagogy for Health Professions programme is, according to §9 paragraph 5, HZG Bb, proof of a first professionally qualifying bachelor's degree in the therapeutic or nursing field with at least 240 ECTS credits or equivalent (e.g. bachelor's degree in midwifery or nursing, bachelor's degrees in health professions from the Netherlands).

The master's programme can be completed both with bachelor's degrees in the pedagogical field as well as with a bachelor's degree from the healthcare sector, whereby modules in the first two semesters partially differ (see study plan).

Selection procedure

The selection procedure for the M.A. Pedagogy for Health Professions master's programme consists of two stages:

  • Application: compliance with the formal admission requirements
  • Admission interview: presentation of oneself and one’s career path, presentation of the bachelor thesis, explanation of motivation for the master's studies, discussion and planning of the individual module composition in the master’s programme

The admission procedure is regulated in the examination and study regulations of the programme. The programme management decides on admission according to established criteria.

The Master's programme in Pedagogy of Health Professions prepares students for an advisory and supportive role in further education and training.

The programme also enables graduates to undertake pedagogical work as a practical instructor or consultant in healthcare, as well as roles in personnel and organisational development within healthcare companies, associations, health insurance providers, health and social institutions, prevention centres, organisations in the independent welfare sector and youth services, in care homes, social counselling centres, and more.
