German-language degree programme Mechatronics
Degree: Bachelor of Engineering (B.Eng.)

Mechatronics is a relatively young discipline of engineering that comprises elements of mechanical engineering, electrical engineering and computer science. These three fields are closely interconnected in most machines and devices today. A typical example is the car. The once purely mechanical vehicle is now a rolling computer with automatic transmission, ABS, Electronic Stability Program (ESP), engine control and many other electronic components. Likewise, machines of all kinds, industrial robots, devices in medicine and household, computers, entertainment and communication electronics only function through the combination of all three disciplines.

COURSE CONTENT AND PROGRESSION:

The foundational studies in the first two semesters are the same for all engineering students. During this time, you learn the basics necessary for your future engineering work in the areas of mathematics, physics, electrical engineering, computer science and computer-aided design methods.

From the third semester onwards, specialisation takes place in the field of Mechatronics. You acquire cross-disciplinary knowledge in the disciplines of mechanical engineering, electrical engineering and computer science. Thanks to this knowledge, you are able to work interdisciplinarily and solve problems that inevitably repeatedly arise at the interfaces of the various fields. Alongside the teaching of technical and language skills, mastering key qualifications is also part of the course content.

In the 7th semester, you focus on your final thesis, the so-called »Bachelor-Thesis«, alongside your professional activities. Upon successful evaluation of your thesis, you attain the internationally recognised academic degree for engineers, »Bachelor of Engineering«.
