Admission requirements
(1) Entry requirements for the Bachelor's degree programmes are:
- General qualification for university entrance or
- Subject-specific university entrance qualification or
- University of Applied Sciences entrance qualification or
- a domestic or foreign education equivalent to that recognised by a legal provision or by the relevant authority.
(2) Professionals without university entrance qualification who:
- have had their main residence in the Federal Republic of Germany for at least one year and have been professionally active there for at least one year
- and have successfully completed a vocational training of at least two years
- and have successfully passed the master craftsman examination, an equivalent professional further education according to the Vocational Training Act (e.g. specialist business administrator) or according to the Crafts Code in the learned profession or a technical college (or a free educational institution providing equivalent professional further education) in accordance with § 14 of the School Act for Baden-Württemberg
- and have worked in the learned profession for at least 4 years
- and have participated in a subject-specific academic advisory session at Karlshochschule - International University or another university related to the desired degree programme,
have the qualification for studying at Karlshochschule International University in a study programme corresponding to their professional training and further education.
(3) Foreign applicants with a university entrance qualification obtained abroad can be admitted to the Bachelor's programme if they have an educational qualification equivalent to that mentioned in paragraph 1 or have successfully passed an assessment test and can demonstrate the language skills required for the chosen degree programme.
Details
The Bachelor's programme in International Relations is designed for students who are interested in global issues and challenges. At the core of the programme is the understanding of international politics. The aim is to provide students with the knowledge and skills to act as mediators between different cultures.
The programme includes both theoretical knowledge and practical experience through business projects and a work placement. A semester abroad offers the opportunity to deepen these skills at a partner university.
Key topics of the programme include economic and power structures, peace, security, international development justice, and human rights. During the course of the programme, students can choose from three specialisations: "International Security," "Human Rights and International Law," and "International Development."
The degree opens up a variety of career opportunities, including positions in international organisations, non-governmental organisations, or ministries.
