Admission requirements
Admission requirements
Due to the interactive nature of the studies, especially in the block modules, the number of students per semester is limited. We do not apply a numerus clausus (NC), but there is a special selection procedure in which the requirements for a successful course of study are clarified. The content currently includes a cognitive test and a discussion of a work psychology article. Three months before the start of each semester (March and September), there are 2-3 days with appointments for selection events. An earlier application results in an earlier appointment for a selection event. Information on the exact content is provided to all applicants in advance by email once the other admission requirements have been met.
Previous internships
Depending on the school qualifications, the required proof of practical experience varies. Before starting the course, a basic internship of at least 6 weeks must be completed in the fields of economics or social work.
The total working time during the basic and specialised internships should correspond to the working hours applicable to a full-time employee in the company. If an intern is only employed part-time, the internship period is extended accordingly.
Periods of relevant vocational training, relevant activities as part of the training in Grade 11 of the technical secondary school or during military service, civil service, development service, or relevant activities during the one-year guided internship required for obtaining the entrance qualification may be credited in whole or in part towards the internships if these activities were carried out in accordance with our internship guidelines. The examination board decides on the crediting of relevant training and professional activities.
The basic internship must be proven at enrolment.
A further 6-week specialised internship must be completed by the end of the fourth semester at the latest.
Details
If you want to help others in a company later on as a psychologist, supporting employees, teams, and managers, you should demonstrate that you can develop yourself further. Therefore, a large part of the studies takes place in full-day block seminars, with intensive personal feedback on your own appearance and the improvement of your personal impact. You will stand in front of a video camera and work on yourself together with other students and professional trainers. Compared to a classic psychology degree, all subjects related to clinical-therapeutic topics have been removed. Nevertheless, in this course, 70% of the subjects are based in psychology, while 25% are business-related subjects. This is supplemented, among other things, by employment law and business English. We do not see our offer as psychology plus business, but psychology in business. This means that psychology always relates to its application in a business context. The interplay of theoretical and practical content is made clear in the study plan through the structure of the modules and subjects. Project work characterises the psychology degree at the RFH, both in the 6-semester and the 7-semester programmes. Through the targeted choice of specialisations, students’ individual interests can be both broadened and deepened.
