Details
The curriculum of this degree programme covers the areas of fundamentals, business administration, economics, law, the specialisation of the professional field, and elective courses.
The degree course provides a fundamental, well-founded academic education aimed at universal career entry opportunities in business. Due to this broad orientation of the programme, students can take on versatile tasks in industrial production, service, and trading companies as well as with public employers.
The following fields of study are offered:
Automotive
Based on general industrial business administration, this specialisation delves particularly into the automotive sector. The peculiarities of the automotive value chain are developed using practical examples. Objectives, tasks, and interactions of OEMs and Tier 1 suppliers are demonstrated.
Financial Services
This specialisation provides a comprehensive introduction to the financial system and establishes an international reference. Banks and insurance companies no longer act as separate elements of the financial sector, as they appear as competitors or complementary players in a common market. They should be understood as financial intermediaries and their specific functions recognised.
Trade/Services
Starting with an overall economic view of trade, trade management includes the development of business formats, distribution systems, and market-oriented corporate management. Service management includes, for example, the organisation of services, outsourcing, etc. In the area of channel management, classical distribution systems as well as e-business systems are covered.
Industry
The industry specialisation initially deals with the fundamentals of industrial business administration, imparting knowledge of this specialised area of business studies and focusing on structural and process-oriented tasks, problems, and decision-making needs. It takes into account that the boundaries between industrial and service companies are increasingly blurring.
Logistics
In the first semesters, students acquire logistics-specific fundamentals (external logistics systems, intra-company logistics, logistics law). As the studies progress, more in-depth content is conveyed (logistics management and strategy, global logistics management, logistics controlling, IT systems/e-logistics).
Taxation and Accounting
This specialisation deals intensively with accounting, financial reporting, and taxation of companies. This includes, for example, international accounting IFRS, the analysis of annual and consolidated financial statements, or the analysis of tax effects of entrepreneurial decisions. The students thus qualify for specific specialised tasks in accounting, auditing, or tax consultancy.
Tourism and Event Management
In addition to teaching the business administration fundamentals of the tourism and event sector, particularly tourism and event management, regulations of German and EU law are conveyed. The fundamentals of the industry as well as controlling, various marketing strategies, and management approaches are explained.
Health Management
This specialisation combines fundamentals from business administration and healthcare. To be able to engage with medical questions from an economic perspective in a future-oriented way, you acquire profound skills and practice-oriented knowledge in this specialisation. In addition to economic know-how and legal knowledge, you gain methodological competencies which are learned and applied in theory and practice. Competence: You acquire solid specialised knowledge and understanding of business and health economic contexts. Management: Using qualitative and quantitative methods, you learn to plan and control business processes in healthcare. Topicality: With innovative and agile approaches, you engage with future topics in healthcare such as digitalisation and big data.
