Details

The Bachelor's degree in Expressive Arts in Social Transformation at the Faculty of Health Sciences of the MSH Medical School Hamburg qualifies students for artistic work in social and societal fields. Artistic work with people: in educational institutions, in the neighbourhood, in correctional facilities, in museums, in companies, with children, with elderly people, with refugees, with the sick, in conflicts and in crisis situations. This requires experience and competence in artistic practice to understand how creative spaces open up, how something new comes into the world, and how change is shaped.

The focal areas »Visual Arts«, »Music«, »Poetry« or »Performance Art« run throughout the entire course. In addition, there is artistic training in other arts. The artistic part thus comprises around half of the degree. This is complemented by the study of concepts and methods of artistically applied practice. The third major area is science and research, primarily providing the tools needed to reflect on one’s own practice in a theory-guided way.

The Bachelor's programme is officially recognised and academically accredited.
