What are the requirements for international students in the online Data Science bachelor's programmes?

for an online Bachelor’s in Data Science at a private university in Germany, the key requirement is usually a recognised university entrance qualification. For international applicants, this is checked formally against the German Hochschulzugangsberechtigung, not just by motivation or work experience.

For English-taught online Data Science programmes, two relevant private options are:

• IU International University: Data Science, B.Sc. – online, English, no NC. Admission usually requires Abitur/Fachabitur or an equivalent recognised international qualification. IU also has alternative routes for applicants without Abitur, for example recognised advanced vocational training or vocational training plus at least 3 years of full-time work experience.
• Tomorrow University: AI & Sustainable Technologies, B.Sc. – online, German or English. Admission requires a school-leaving certificate that qualifies for university study and English at B2 level; non-German certificates are checked separately.

In your case, your Diploma in Education from the University of Zimbabwe is definitely relevant and should be submitted. It may support your eligibility if it is recognised as a higher-education qualification, but the university or its admissions service must check this formally. Your Business Analysis certificate and Coursera Data Analysis certificate may strengthen your application's subject fit, but they normally do not replace the formal university entrance qualification for a Bachelor’s degree.

For applicants from Zimbabwe, uni-assist specifically notes that if you have a Zimbabwean GCE background, you should submit the official school-leaving certificate including the Advanced Level Examination, the Ordinary Level Examination and the grading system. So if you have O-Level/A-Level documents, include them as well.

As a practical example, uni-assist indicates that a Zimbabwean GCE background can qualify for direct subject-restricted admission to German higher education, for example in Economics, if the required subject combination is met. This usually means either 3 Ordinary Level subjects plus 2 Advanced Level subjects, or 1 Ordinary Level subject plus 3 Advanced Level subjects. The subjects must be independent general education subjects, English must be included, Ordinary Level subjects must usually be passed with at least grade C, and Mathematics must also be proven.

Bottom line: You do not necessarily need German Abitur or German Fachabitur, but you do need an equivalent recognised qualification. Your diploma and certificates are useful, but the decisive step is the formal recognition check by the university, uni-assist or the responsible admissions authority.

Typical documents you should prepare:

• school-leaving certificates, including transcripts/subjects and grades
• your University of Zimbabwe diploma and transcript
• official grading system, if it is not printed on the transcript
• English proof, usually at least B2, unless the university accepts your previous English-taught education
• CV, passport/ID copy and, depending on the university, a motivation statement or admission interview
