Which Private Universities in Germany Offer English-Taught Master's in Sport Science or Related Fields?

Hi Sara, yes – there are a few options at private universities in Germany, but the choice is quite narrow if you want an English-taught on-campus master’s programme in this field.
The main point: I could not find a private English-taught campus master that is a pure Sport Science, Physiotherapy or Sports Psychology programme. Most private programmes in those areas are taught in German. The English-taught options are mainly closer to sports management, sports business and communication.
These options may be relevant for you:
- Munich Business School: Master’s in Sports Business and Communication, on campus in Munich, taught in English. This is more business, media and sports industry than sport physiology.
- accadis Hochschule Bad Homburg: Global Sports Management, available in English. This can be interesting if you are open to a management-focused programme and possibly a dual or practice-integrated model.
- International School of Management: Strategic Sports Management, listed as German or English. I would check directly with ISM whether your chosen campus and intake can be completed fully in English.
- Sigmund Freud Private University Berlin: Psychology, M.Sc., on campus in Berlin and taught in English. This is not Sports Psychology, but it may be worth checking if you want to move more broadly into psychology.
For physiotherapy, the situation is more difficult: private physiotherapy degrees in Germany are generally taught in German, often with German requirements around B2 to C1. If English is a must, physiotherapy is probably not the easiest route in Germany.
If your priority is the academic subject – sport science, exercise physiology or sports psychology – and not necessarily the private-university sector, you may also want to check public universities. There are English-taught programmes in Germany such as Sport and Exercise Science, Sport Science for Health or Psychology in Sport and Exercise. Those may fit your background in sport physiology better than the private sports management programmes.
So, based on the current private-university options, your realistic choices are: Choose an English-taught private programme with a sports business focus, or include public universities in your search of English-language programmes if you want the sport science, sports psychology or physiotherapy focus. Of course you should consider German-language programmes as well if you're fine with learning a language and getting past the language requirements.
Kind regards
