The degree is designed as an advanced course of study. Therefore, you can only be enrolled if you can prove one of these professional qualifications. (Technical) A-levels are not mandatory. Access is also possible without A-levels if you have a valid professional qualification. The content of your previous training will be recognised, so the duration of studies is shortened to two years (50% of the regular time).

The course builds on your completed training as an educator, curative educator, or similar and recognises numerous training contents.

How is the part-time course organised?
The degree programme is designed to be part-time, enabling you to continue your work. The programme is set over two years (from 24 months) and is based on a blended learning concept:
- Combined study programme: A combination of on-campus attendance phases, live online seminars and flexible self-study via the FHM Online University.
- Attendance times: Regular attendance weekends (Fridays 1–7.45 pm, Saturdays 8.30 am–3.30 pm) and three attendance weeks per year (Monday to Saturday).
- Online components: Approximately two evening online lectures per month (6–8.15 pm) as well as supervised self-learning phases, so you can learn independently.
- Trimodular system: The programme is divided into trimesters, which allows clear planning. The lecture-free times are during school holidays of the federal states.
The study concept is designed to best reconcile work, family and studies. Study groups and practice-oriented projects ensure close exchange and enable transfer into your everyday work.
