The Bachelor's degree programme 'Earth Sciences and Sustainable Management of Environmental Resources' (ESSMER) at Constructor University in Bremen is an interdisciplinary programme with a strong focus on phenomena and processes occurring at the Earth's surface. The programme aims to develop a comprehensive understanding of the Earth's surface environment, including interactions between land masses, oceans, atmosphere, biosphere, and human influence.

ESSMER combines geosciences with sustainability and resource management and has a solid foundation in chemistry, mathematics, physics, and economics. Course content includes modules in geochemistry, environmental physics, economics and management, as well as digital geosciences.

Students have the opportunity to take advantage of a flexible study structure, incorporating optional supplementary courses from the humanities and life sciences. Through a practical approach, including a mandatory internship and the possibility of a semester abroad, graduates are well-prepared for global career opportunities. These are in demand in a variety of environmental sciences and natural resource management fields.

The first year of study covers foundational modules such as topics in earth sciences, environmental change, and economics.

In the second year, in-depth CORE modules are focused on building expertise in geochemistry, environmental physics, and environmental resource management.

In the third year, students focus on specialization modules and prepare for their careers through a mandatory internship.
