The target group consists of students with a bachelor's degree in sports science or in related disciplines. Applicants should have an affinity for the scientific approach to sport and envision their professional future in diagnostic as well as training science positions.
Personal Requirements
Beginners should bring the following knowledge and interests:
- Strong interest in competitive sports or related application fields, for example demonstrated by personal athletic or coaching experience
- Particular interest in scientific questions and an affinity for medical topics
- Enjoyment of scientific work in the laboratory and practical training work
- Basic knowledge of statistical methods
- Good command of English
Legal Requirements
- Eligibility to study in master's degree programmes according to § 39 of the Hamburg Higher Education Act (HmbHG)
- A successfully completed relevant bachelor's degree in the field of sports science or in a related area such as physiotherapy with at least 180 ECTS credits (European Credit Transfer System) is required. The thematic focus of the bachelor's degree must usually comprise 70 ECTS credits oriented towards sports science. Partially missing basic sports science knowledge can be acquired by means of bridging courses through additional enrolment in modules of the bachelor's degree programme in sports science
The degree programmes at MSH Medical School Hamburg are free of numerus clausus: talent, motivation and discipline count more than the grade average on the certificate. However, punctuality, good performance and commitment during the studies are of great importance.

In the Master's programme in Sports Science with a focus on Performance Diagnostics and Training Control, you deepen your sports science skills and knowledge. A core component of the curriculum includes topics from the fields of movement science, biomechanics, sports medicine, and sports psychology.
Students engage intensively with elite sport, but application areas such as mass, fitness, and health sports are also considered.
With a master's degree in sports science, graduates prove that they have thoroughly studied sports science. Because they have extensively qualified themselves in theory and practice, they improve their chances for a leadership role in the sports industry.
