Admission requirements
For admission to the Bachelor's degree programme in Rescue Management, the following entry requirements apply:
- General higher education entrance qualification, subject-specific higher education entrance qualification, or the advanced technical college entrance qualification in accordance with § 37 HmbHG
- or special access for working professionals in accordance with § 38 HmbHG via an entrance examination (in accordance with the entrance examination regulations of the university of applied sciences)
- a successfully completed vocational training as a paramedic
- the permission to use the professional title of paramedic
The degree programmes at MSH Medical School Hamburg are free of NC restrictions: talent, motivation and discipline count more than the grade average on the certificate. Punctuality, good performance and commitment during the studies are of great importance.

The Bachelor’s degree programme in Rescue Management at MSH Medical School Hamburg qualifies students for a role in middle-level emergency medical service management, for example as the head of a rescue station, an emergency medical service area, or a department of an emergency organisation. The course conveys content from a wide-ranging subject spectrum: management theories, business administration know-how, and background information on the structure and organisation of emergency medical service systems. In addition, several study modules aim to promote personal and social competencies as a modern leader.
The Bachelor’s degree programme in Rescue Management is offered as a part-time course for paramedics. During the seven semesters – under certain conditions previously completed training, further education, and continuing education measures can be credited – you will develop your management, personnel, and social skills. You will learn to reflect on and evaluate different organisational forms of emergency medical services. You will be able to take on personnel and budget responsibility and optimise administrative processes.

You will be enabled to work analytically with an appropriate repertoire of methods and to develop scientifically based problem-solving approaches for practical application. Upon successful completion of your studies, you will have the best possible qualification to systematically and needs-based further develop emergency medical services as part of public services.
