These are the requirements for the Master's in Sustainable Management

With your Master's in Sustainable Management, you could work as a consultant for sustainable business transformation, as a CEO or founder, or in a finance department leadership role.

The IU International University offers the Master's in Sustainable Management in 2 variants: the 60 ECTS variant lasts 2 semesters in full-time study, and the 120 ECTS variant lasts 4 semesters in full-time study.

For both variants, an undergraduate degree from a nationally recognized or state university is required, such as a Bachelor's or Master's degree. The final grade of your degree should be at least "Satisfactory."

For the 60 ECTS variant, the following additional requirements apply:

• If your undergraduate degree comprises 240 ECTS and you can demonstrate at least 1 year of qualified work experience, you can enroll directly in the Master's program.
• If your undergraduate degree comprises 210 ECTS and you can demonstrate at least 1 year of qualified work experience, you can enroll directly in the Master's program in Sustainable Management.
• If your undergraduate degree comprises 180 ECTS, complete courses totaling at least 30 ECTS and provide evidence of at least 1 year of work experience. Alternatively, demonstrate at least 2 years of qualified work experience.

For the 120 ECTS variant, the following additional requirements apply:

• You must be able to provide at least one year of qualified work experience gained after your first degree.
• If you do not have enough work experience yet, you can still be enrolled if you are actively working in a relevant field during your studies.

Additionally, you can have prior achievements recognized to shorten your study time and save on tuition fees in distance learning. Recognitions may include accomplishments from previous Master's programs or extensive work experience in the field of Sustainable Management that the university can acknowledge. It's best to submit your recognition request along with your application.

This Master's program at IU comprises approximately 8-16 modules that you will take and complete over 2-4 semesters of regular study time. Each module carries 5-10 credit points (ECTS) and concludes with an examination such as a term paper or an exam. In total, you will earn 60-120 credits from module to module and from semester to semester.

In the 60-ECTS variant, the full-time course is structured as follows:

• Semester 1: Sustainable Business Administration, Economic Approaches to Sustainability, Global Challenges and Sustainable Development, Sustainable Business Models, Ethics and Value Management, Research Methodology
• Semester 2: Seminar: Marketing Responsibility, Elective Module A, Master's Thesis

You have the choice of these exciting modules for specialization: International Perspectives, Sustainable Development and Ethics of Technologies, Responsible Leadership, Sustainable Product Development, Sustainable Business Start-up, Intercultural Management.

In the 120-ECTS variant, the full-time course is structured as follows:

• Semester 1: Sustainable Business Administration, Global Challenges and Sustainable Development, ESG-oriented Financial Sciences, Value Chain Management, Sustainable Business Models, Research Methodology
• Semester 2: Economic Approaches to Sustainability, New Work, Ethics and Value Management, Sustainable Communication, Seminar: Marketing Responsibility, Project: Development of a Sustainable Business Model
• Semester 3: Social Innovation and Sustainable Entrepreneurship, Change Management and Organizational Development, Elective Module A, Elective Module B
• Semester 4: Master

For the first specialization, you have the choice of these exciting modules: Project Management and Agility, Quantitative Methods, Controlling and Reporting, Agile Leadership and Communication, Organizational Analysis and Psychology.

For the second specialization, choose one of these study modules: International Perspectives, Sustainable Development and Ethics of Technologies, Responsible Leadership, Sustainable Product Development, Sustainable Business Start-up, Intercultural Management.

How flexible is the standard study time in the distance learning course Sustainable Management

At IU International University, in the part-time distance learning program, you can choose from 3 study models:

• In full-time study, the standard study time is 2 semesters for the 60-ECTS variant and 4 semesters for the 120-ECTS variant. You can extend the standard study time by up to 2 semesters at no extra cost. Full-time study in Sustainable Management is particularly suitable for those who are not working or working only a few hours per week.
• In part-time study I, the standard study time is 3 semesters for the 60-ECTS variant and 6 semesters for the 120-ECTS variant. You can extend the standard study time by up to 2 semesters at no extra cost. Part-time study I is suitable, for example, if you work part-time alongside your studies.
• In part-time study II, the standard study time is 4 semesters for the 60-ECTS variant and 8 semesters for the 120-ECTS variant. You can extend the standard study time by up to 2 semesters at no extra cost. Part-time study II is particularly suitable if you are heavily involved in your professional life alongside your distance learning studies.

By the way, during your studies, you can also take a semester break at no extra cost.

In the Master's distance learning program in Sustainable Management at IU International University, there is no attendance requirement - you learn continuously from home, in the library of your choice, or wherever you can learn best.

And exams? You can choose to take them as online exams. You can take an online exam at any time once you feel sufficiently prepared for the material. Alternatively, you can take the exam at one of IU's numerous exam centers throughout Germany.
