- Different background? If your first degree is in another field, admission can be possible via a Master entrance route by successfully completing defined modules from the curriculum within a set timeframe (these credits count towards your degree).
- Lower Bachelor grade: alternative entry may be possible if you can evidence relevant Master-level credits, a completed relevant Master/MBA, or recognised advanced professional qualifications (subject to individual review).
- International qualifications: foreign degrees and diplomas are accepted if they are comparable to a German undergraduate degree from a recognised institution. Official transcripts are required; admissions will review equivalence.
- Language of instruction: this programme is taught in German. You must provide a German certificate at B2 level or higher. Accepted proofs include:

Personal requirements
Success in a fully online Master depends on consistent routines and clear priorities. What will you study in the Project Management (M.A.) at IU International University of Applied Sciences?
This Master’s is taught in German. You need recognised German certificates at roughly B2 level to enrol, such as TestDaF (min. 3 in all parts), DSH-1, telc Deutsch B2 or ÖSD B2. You train Communication Techniques for stakeholder dialogue, and study Change Management and Organisational Development to lead restructurings and culture shifts effectively. A seminar on People and Organisation links HR, roles and structures to execution in projects.
International perspective and research complete the profile. Managing in a Global Economy sharpens your cross-cultural and global governance skills, while Research Methods prepares you for evidence-based decisions and the Master’s thesis. IU is a Fachhochschule (university of applied sciences) – that means strongly applied teaching and assessment. You study fully online with flexible pacing. There are no compulsory on-site phases; exams can be taken online around the clock or at a test centre. Start dates are rolling, and time models range from full-time to extended part-time.
Teaching language and proof of language
The programme is delivered in German. International applicants must document German proficiency, typically with TestDaF (at least 3 in each section), DSH-1, telc Deutsch B2 or ÖSD B2. The certificate must be presented before you start and is usually no older than five years.

Time models and workload
Choose between 24, 36 or 48 months. As orientation: around 35–40 hours per week in full-time, roughly 25 hours in part-time I, and 20 hours in part-time II. A free extension of up to 12 months is possible if you need more time.
What does the Project Management (M.A.) cost?
Tuition is billed monthly and depends on your chosen duration. In full-time (24 months) at €499 per month the total is about €11,976. In part-time I (36 months) at €379 per month it is about €13,644, and in part-time II (48 months) at €299 per month it is about €14,352. The monthly rate drops with longer duration, while the overall total increases.
Beyond tuition, plan for incidental costs such as specialist literature or travel if you choose a physical test centre instead of online exams. External certification exams (for example separate PRINCE2 or Scrum certificates) are not included in the tuition.
Payment is typically made in monthly instalments over the selected time model. Recognised prior learning can shorten your studies and reduce fees, since credited ECTS are offset financially. As a distance learner, you can remain in your current location, so there are no relocation or campus living costs; your living expenses depend on where you reside.
What careers and recognition does the Project Management (M.A.) offer?
IU is staatlich anerkannt (state-recognised) as a university of applied sciences and the programme is accredited. The degree carries 120 ECTS and follows the Bologna framework, which supports international recognition for academic progression and employment.
