The European School of Management and Technology Berlin (ESMT Berlin) is an internationally renowned private business school located at Schlossplatz 1 in Berlin-Mitte. It was founded in 2002 on the initiative of 25 leading German companies and associations, including Allianz, Bosch, Deutsche Bank, and Siemens, with the aim of establishing a top-ranking international business school in Germany. The university is state-recognized, has the right to award doctorates, and is supported by the non-profit ESMT GmbH, whose owners are the ESMT Foundation and the Association of Friends and Supporters of ESMT. The main campus of ESMT is situated in a heritage-listed building, the former State Council building of the GDR, which has been extensively modernized and equipped with hybrid teaching technology.

ESMT offers a wide range of academic programs, including three specialized Master's programmes (MSc): the Master in Global Management, the Master in Innovation and Entrepreneurship, and the Master in Analytics and AI – each with a duration of 24 months. In addition, the MBA portfolio includes four programmes: the Full-time MBA (15 months, on-site), the Part-time MBA (24 months, blended), the Executive MBA (18 months, modular), and the fully online Global Online MBA (24–60 months, flexible). A structured PhD programme complements the academic portfolio.

ESMT Berlin has a strong international approach: About 90% of students come from abroad, representing over 95 nations. The school collaborates with numerous renowned international partner universities and is a member of global networks such as the Global Network for Advanced Management (GNAM), the European Foundation for Management Development (EFMD), the Future of Management Education Alliance (FOME), and UNICON. International exchange programmes, the Global Impact Program with the University of Virginia, and double-degree options (e.g. with Yale SOM) are integral parts of the study experience.

Research at the university focuses on leadership, innovation, and analytics. Faculty members come from 18 different countries; 46 faculty members teach and conduct research at the university. ESMT has a network of over 9,000 alumni and has trained more than 36,000 executives in the field of Executive Education.

The university is deeply committed to sustainability and social responsibility. A sustainability focus is the photovoltaic system installed in 2023 with 893 modules and a capacity of 366 kWp – the largest facility of its kind in central Berlin. The goal is climate neutrality for Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions by 2030. The Institute for Sustainable Transformation (IST), founded in 2021, promotes research and education on sustainable corporate management. Further initiatives like the Responsible Leaders Fellowship, the Ukraine Impact Project, and the Societal Impact Financing Initiative (SciFi) underscore the societal relevance of education at ESMT.

Entrepreneurial education is supported by the DEEP – Institute for Deep Tech Innovation, the Vali Entrepreneurship Hub, and the Learning Innovation Lab. Students can engage in numerous student clubs and initiatives, such as the Culture Club, Pride Impact Club, Consulting Club, or the Women in Leadership Club. Additionally, the ESMT Annual Forum is held annually, and since 2023, the Berlin Global Dialogue brings together high-profile personalities from politics and business.

ESMT is triple-accredited by AACSB, AMBA, and EQUIS ("Triple Crown") and has been unconditionally accredited by the Science Council for another ten years since 2024.

With a highly diverse study environment, excellent infrastructure, and a global orientation, ESMT Berlin is one of the leading business schools in Europe, making a significant contribution to the development of responsible leaders in business and society.
