Admission requirements
Admission is selective but NC-free. You apply year-round; intakes start in April and October. The degree is accredited (valid through 30 September 2029). Submit a complete application and be prepared for a personal selection interview.
- University entrance qualification: a secondary school certificate granting access to higher education (equivalent to the German Allgemeine Hochschulreife or Fachhochschulreife). International school-leaving certificates are accepted if academically equivalent; the university checks comparability case by case.
- Admission without Abitur: possible with a completed vocational qualification plus at least 3 years of full-time work experience in a relevant field.
- Language of instruction: English. You need proof of adequate English proficiency. If you do not yet hold a recognised certificate, you can take the SRH English Proficiency Certificate as an alternative route.
- Application documents: CV (with recent photo), copy of your ID (passport or national ID), and all school/professional transcripts.
- Study format and tracks: full-time, on campus; choose 7 semesters (210 ECTS, International Experience Track with a 6-month study/internship abroad) or 6 semesters (180 ECTS, Fast Track).

International qualifications are considered on their academic merit. If your documents show the required level for university entry in your home country and are comparable to German higher education entrance standards, you are eligible to apply.
Personal requirements
Computer Science demands consistent practice and project work. Expect a weekly workload of about 35–45 hours in full-time study, combining lectures, labs and self-study. You should be comfortable with high-school mathematics, systematic problem-solving and learning programming from the ground up. Good spoken and written English is essential to follow lectures, read technical materials and collaborate in teams.
What helps you succeed: strong self-organisation across 5-week teaching blocks, perseverance when debugging and iterating on code, and realistic time planning around milestones and exams. What will you study in the Computer Science (B.Sc.) at SRH University?
The programme is taught in English. You study core computer science and modern software engineering from fundamentals to application, with the option to complete either a 7-semester International Experience Track (210 ECTS) or a 6-semester Fast Track (180 ECTS). As a private, state-recognised (staatlich anerkannt) university of applied sciences (Fachhochschule), SRH focuses on practice, labs and projects.
Programming and software engineering. You build a solid foundation in programming paradigms and languages, software design and testing. Typical building blocks include object-oriented programming, web and mobile development, and agile methods so you can plan, implement and evaluate full applications.
Systems, networks and cloud. You learn how computers, networks and cloud platforms work together in modern architectures. Modules cover computer networks, cloud computing and deployment, and operating concepts needed to run scalable, secure services.
Data, AI and security. You are introduced to data structures, databases and analytics, and you explore topics such as artificial intelligence and cybersecurity. You also address information security and privacy so software solutions meet real-world requirements.
Maths, electronics and human–technology. You will meet the mathematical foundations used across CS, plus basics in electronics and user-centred design. The focus is on solving complex problems, communicating results and collaborating in teams.
Electives and tracks. You choose between two study tracks: the International Experience Track (7 semesters, 210 ECTS) with a built-in 6-month study or internship abroad, and the Fast Track (6 semesters, 180 ECTS) for a quicker entry into the job market or a consecutive master’s. Electives allow you to deepen areas like AI, cloud or cybersecurity depending on the campus offer.
Practice, projects and thesis. Learning follows SRH’s CORE principle with skill- and project-based teaching, labs and a supervised internship. You finish with a bachelor’s thesis that proves you can design, build and evaluate a software or systems solution ready for professional contexts.
How does studying in the Computer Science (B.Sc.) work?
English-taught programme and proof of language skills
The teaching language is 100% English. You need proof of English proficiency; if you do not yet have a recognised certificate, SRH offers its own English Proficiency Certificate test as an alternative route. This makes the programme accessible if you have strong English skills but lack a standardised test.
On-campus study with two duration options and five German cities
This is a full-time, on-campus programme starting in April or October. You can study in Berlin, Heidelberg, Leipzig, Munich or Stuttgart. International Experience Track: study or internship abroad
Choose the 7-semester route to add a 6-month semester or internship abroad. This track earns 210 ECTS and gives you international work or study experience—an asset for job entry in Germany and the EU.
What does the Computer Science (B.Sc.) cost?
Tuition depends on your campus city, track and nationality. For EU/EEA students, monthly tuition typically starts at €690 per month in Leipzig, Munich and Stuttgart and at €790 per month in Berlin and Heidelberg for the 7-semester track; the 6-semester track starts at €750/€840 per month respectively. For non-EU students, tuition is billed per semester: from €4,770–€5,100 per semester (7 semesters) or €5,100–€5,650 per semester (6 semesters), depending on campus. A one-time enrolment fee applies: €750 (EU/EEA) or €1,000 (non-EU).
To put this into perspective over the standard duration: an EU student in the 7-semester track pays roughly €28,980–€33,180 in total tuition depending on campus; in the 6-semester track, about €27,000–€30,240. A non-EU student pays about €33,390–€35,700 (7 semesters) or €30,600–€33,900 (6 semesters), plus the enrolment fee. Tuition remains constant throughout your studies.
Payment from abroad is standard practice; non-EU students typically pay by semester. SRH also highlights scholarships and education loans as possible financing routes; check which options apply to your nationality and campus.
Living costs vary by city. As an orientation: in Berlin or Munich you should plan a higher budget for rent and daily expenses than in Leipzig, Heidelberg or Stuttgart. A realistic monthly range for students is €950–€1,400 depending on housing, health insurance and personal spending.
What careers and recognition does the Computer Science (B.Sc.) offer?
