Details
Based on the principle “from practice for practice,” the Bachelor’s degree programme B.Sc. Psychiatric Nursing was specifically developed to meet the needs and requirements of nursing in the psychiatric work environment.
Building on your completed training in a nursing or curative education profession, you will acquire in 5 semesters of part-time study* specialised expert knowledge in various psychiatric fields of practice and learn to apply this knowledge in a scientifically grounded manner. The aim of the programme is an evidence-based and reflective practice of nursing in both inpatient and outpatient sectors of care for people with mental illnesses.
In this way, you gain a critical and patient-oriented understanding of the most important theories, principles and methods of psychiatry and psychosomatics and learn to carry out therapy planning according to the nursing process, including various supportive therapy options.
An important component of the B.Sc. Psychiatric Nursing programme consists of practical placements in changing areas of inpatient facilities, where you apply the action competencies acquired in theory under guidance in everyday professional practice and critically reflect on them. Accompanying this, you participate in group supervisions as case supervisions.
The structure of the programme follows the principle of digital transformation from conventional teaching to the "inverted classroom": study content can thus be worked on independently, asynchronously, location-independently and on your own laptop by means of digital learning materials and virtual lectures, ensuring the compatibility of family, work and study.
