Admission requirements
The degree programme at HSD Hochschule Döpfer is free of restrictions (NC-free). According to the Brandenburg Higher Education Act, you can commence a degree course under the following conditions (see §§ 9 BbgHG of 28 April 2014):
- General higher education entrance qualification
- Subject-specific higher education entrance qualification
- Entrance qualification for universities of applied sciences
- Subject-specific entrance qualification for universities of applied sciences
- Passed master craftsman examination or an equivalent qualification
- Lower secondary school leaving certificate or equivalent qualification as well as a vocational training suitable for the respective degree course and at least two years of relevant professional experience
and a completed vocational training course of at least three years’ duration in a regulated healthcare profession.
Selection procedure
The selection procedure consists of two stages:
- Review of the application documents and compliance with the formal admission requirements
- Taking an “equivalence examination” followed by a brief personal interview regarding your motivation and suitability for the degree course
The equivalence examination tests basic knowledge in the fields of anatomy, physiology, pathology and the social sciences. Successfully passing the equivalence examination leads to the automatic recognition of your training worth 60 CP at the start of your studies!
Medical and dental assistants can also be admitted to the Medical Education degree programme if they additionally prove 20 ECTS credits in the medical basics (anatomy, physiology, pathology). These can for example be acquired as part of a scientific further education programme (university certificate) at HSD Hochschule Döpfer.
The completion of training as a paramedic assistant is not sufficient for admission to a degree programme. As a prerequisite for admission, completed training as a paramedic must be available. Alternatively, training as a paramedic may be undertaken in parallel during the first year of the degree. In this case, the degree course is taken under reservation and at the student’s own risk.
