Admission requirements
For admission to the Master's programme Architecture - Design for the Built Environment, the following qualifications and knowledge can be accepted:
A professional degree (Bachelor's or Diploma) in Architecture (210 CP) with a minimum grade point average of 2.5. Bachelor graduates with a degree of 180 Credit Points have the opportunity to acquire an additional 30 CP through a preparatory course (Pre-Course Practice in an architectural office as well as a Design Project). The practical preparatory course must be started and successfully completed by the winter semester at the latest to ensure entry into the regular programme for the following summer semester.
English proficiency IELTS 6.5 / TOEFL 80 / Duolingo Certificate 120 / PTE Academics 58 or equivalent successful aptitude test

The Master's programme Architecture - Design for the Built Environment is aimed at graduates of a Bachelor's or Diploma programme in the field of architecture who are interested in a thorough examination of the construction industry and urban environment. The focus is on Europe's architectural heritage and adaptation to current societal changes. This full-time programme takes place at SRH University Heidelberg and spans three semesters. It provides comprehensive knowledge in architectural theory, building construction, and urban analysis. The second semester focuses on inventory and design in existing structures, accompanied by various elective modules. The programme concludes with the writing of a master's thesis, supported by a colloquium.
The programme offers a total of 90 ECTS credits and is conducted in English. It opens up career opportunities both nationally and internationally, especially in architectural firms dealing with societal challenges such as adapting to existing architecture and sustainable urban development.
1st Semester: Architectural Theory, Design and Building Construction I and II, Urban Analysis and Representation. 2nd Semester: Analysis of the Existing Fabric, Design in Existing Fabric, Building Construction in Existing Fabric, Elective Modules. 3rd Semester: Master's Thesis, Colloquium.
