The MBA distance learning programme “General Management” at the European Distance and Further Education School Hamburg is primarily aimed at professionals who wish to qualify for an international career in management. Admission requirements for the MBA programme
- Completed first degree: Proof of a successfully completed degree at a state-recognised university or a comparable institution.
- Professional experience: At least two years of relevant professional practice after the first degree.
- English language skills: Proof of English proficiency, for example by a TOEFL test with at least 550 points or an equivalent other certificate. Alternatively, an English-language interview can be conducted with a professor at Euro-FH.
- Aptitude proof: Either a passed GMAT (Graduate Management Admission Test) with a minimum score of 500 or a successful interview conducted in English.
- Letters of recommendation: Two recommendations from professors or relevant persons.
- Application documents: Including a work-related CV and a letter of motivation.
The final admission decision is made by the examination board of the university or a person appointed by it.
Special features: Under certain circumstances, executives without a completed first degree can be admitted via a master’s entry programme (individual assessment required). A numerus clausus (NC) is not required. Study commencement is possible at any time. Previously earned academic credits can possibly be recognised, which reduces study duration and costs.

In the distance learning programme International Management (M.A.) at the European Distance University Hamburg, you acquire comprehensive knowledge of international management. The course is divided into three main subject areas:
- Understanding International Management: You will learn the fundamentals of business administration in an international context. This includes, for example, management methods, organisational structures, and international business models.
- International Economy, Policy and Laws: This module covers the economic, political and legal frameworks of international business. You will gain knowledge of company-relevant legal basics, financing, and macroeconomic contexts in the global environment.
- International Leadership: Here you develop skills for leading international teams and organisations. Topics such as leadership, responsible management and intercultural working are the focus.
A special feature of the degree programme is the "Future Project: Global Visions". In this project, you engage with the future challenges in International Management – from digitalisation to sustainability and ethical conduct. All modules are designed to be practice-oriented and enable you to apply the learned content to your own projects or case studies. There are also elective modules such as Brand Management, IT & Operations Management or Human Resources and Health Management to set individual priorities.
What is the structure of the distance learning programme?
The course is designed for a standard period of study of 24 or 32 months and comprises a total of 120 ECTS. You can choose your start date freely at any time. The flexible distance learning model allows you to study individually at your own pace and to extend the study period free of charge by up to 12 or 16 months. Study content is provided digitally, in print form, and as audio, supported by webinars and online tutorials.
- Examinations can be taken monthly either online or at ten nationwide locations, with flexible appointment selection.
- Compact seminars are mainly held online and are optimally plannable.
