Admission Requirements

For example, with your M.A. in Corporate Communications, you could work as a community manager, as a consultant for strategic communication, as a media planner, or as a communications manager.

The admission requirements for this course of study include a successfully completed bachelor's degree (with a grade of 'good' or better) in the fields of media and communication studies, applied media, media business, journalism, business and economics, sociology, psychology, or German studies with at least 180 ECTS credits, or a comparable academic degree, such as a diploma.

The grade for the degree should be 2.5 or better. If the average grade is different, the ability to study may be demonstrated through a separate selection interview.

For a bachelor's degree that is not yet fully completed, 80% of the required credit points must have been earned at the time of application. The remaining credits must be completed by the time of enrollment.

In the previous bachelor's degree program, at least 45 ECTS credits in media or communication science modules should be allocated. Missing ECTS points can be replaced by a subject-related pre-internship (minimum of 12 weeks). If neither subject modules nor an internship can be proven, an entrance test must be taken.

In addition, proof of at least 5 ECTS credits in business administration and a grade of '2.5' or better is required for admission. Without the corresponding proof, a propaedeutic test must be completed.

An appropriate letter of recommendation from a university professor, program director, or dean is recommended.

Study Contents and Specializations

Facebook and Twitter, LOHAS and Performer – people, their media, and markets are changing rapidly. All organizations – companies, associations, and clubs – must adapt to these changes and learn to communicate differently. The Master's program in Corporate Communication at Fresenius University examines the sociological, psychological, and communications science foundations of organizational communication and develops practical applications.

Key topics of the Master's program in Corporate Communication include the conception of cross-media campaigns, globalized brand communication, and the study of communication effects with traditional and new media. Optional specialisation modules provide an intensive and practical engagement with social media, crisis or live communication, public relations, or public affairs. Central master competencies in decision theory, business ethics, organizational management, and digital media are covered in combination modules.

The study plan includes the following modules:

  • 1st Semester: Principles of corporate communication, creative tools & design thinking, sociology and communication, social psychology, legal aspects of corporate communication, empirical methods in applied research
  • 2nd Semester: Storytelling, brand communication, digital marketing, ethical aspects of corporate communication, leadership and management, empirical research project
  • 3rd Semester: Campaign communication, crisis communication, stakeholder management, consumer behavior, corporate governance & compliance, digital applications & data management
  • 4th Semester: Elective module I, elective module II, master's thesis, disputation

During the course of your studies, you will choose a total of 2 elective modules from these topics: live communication, economic sociology, content marketing, conflict management & mediation; civil society engagement, European integration.
