These are the requirements for the Master's in Contract Law

With your Master's in Contract Law, you can work, for example, as a specialist or manager in insurance companies or in contract management or as the head of the legal department.

A first degree in the areas of commercial law or business administration (with at least 30 ECTS in law) from a recognized or state university is required, such as a bachelor's or master's degree. The grade of your degree should be at least "Satisfactory."

In addition, you must demonstrate relevant work experience of at least 1 year.

Depending on the scope of your degree, these additional requirements apply:

  • If your first degree is 240 ECTS, you can be immediately enrolled in the master's program.
  • If your first degree is 210 ECTS and you can demonstrate at least 1 year of qualified work experience, you can be immediately enrolled in the Contract Law master's program.
  • If your first degree is 180 ECTS, you take courses equivalent to at least 30 ECTS and demonstrate additional work experience of at least 1 year. Alternatively, you demonstrate at least 2 years of qualified work experience.

You can also be admitted with a completed first legal exam according to § 5 DRiG (state examination).

Furthermore, you can have extensive prior achievements recognized to shorten the study time in distance learning and save on tuition fees. Recognitions can include achievements from previous master's programs. The university can also recognize extensive work experience in contract law. It is best to submit your recognition request along with your application.

Each module carries 5-10 credit points (ECTS) and concludes with an examination such as a term paper or an exam. Part-time study II is particularly suitable if you are heavily engaged in your career alongside your distance learning.
