Details
The dual degree programme in Business Informatics combines the subjects of Business Administration and Computer Science and specifically prepares students for tasks at the interface between business and IT. In times of advancing digitalisation of almost all economic and life areas, it imparts important key competencies and expert knowledge in various IT, specialist or industry fields. While all important aspects of business administration are taught in the business area, the computer science part focuses on software (design, programming, software engineering and project management) and database systems.
Study organisation & structure
In the dual studies, theoretical phases at the university (on average 20 weeks annually) alternate with practical phases in the company (on average 32 weeks annually).
The students acquire advanced knowledge of computer science combined with broad business administration knowledge. In the first two years of study, foundational knowledge is imparted in the core business administration subjects and an introduction is made to the basics of computer science and programming. Method modules and Business English complement the curriculum. In the second year of study, the proportion of computer science modules increases. The third year of study is characterised by the bachelor thesis and the specialisation, where topics can be chosen from current subjects in business informatics and business administration.
