These are the requirements for the Nursing Bachelor's degree

With your Bachelor's degree in Nursing, you can work in research and science, in ward management, or as a nursing practice coach (IU).

You can be admitted to the part-time distance learning Nursing program at IU International University if you can provide either a high school diploma (the general qualification for university entrance), a technical diploma, or a subject-specific higher education entrance qualification.

In addition, you must have completed vocational training as a geriatric nurse, pediatric nurse, nurse, or nursing specialist.

If you do not have a high school diploma or technical diploma, you can also study Nursing without a high school diploma. In addition to your vocational training, you must demonstrate at least 3 years of full-time work in the nursing field. You will then complete a short trial study before being regularly enrolled.

These are the study contents in the online nursing program

This Bachelor's degree at IU consists of approximately 14 modules that you will take and complete over the course of 3 semesters of regular study time. Each module is worth 5-10 credit points (ECTS) and concludes with an examination, such as a term paper or an exam. In total, you will earn 180 credit points from module to module and from semester to semester.

The typical study schedule for full-time nursing studies looks as follows:

• Semester 4: Introduction to Academic Writing, Nursing as a Profession, Introduction to Nursing Management, Nursing Law, Quality Management in Nursing, Interaction and Communication in Organizations
• Semester 5: Framework Conditions of the Health Market, Sociology, Psychology, Seminar: Nursing Process, Elements of Highly Complex Nursing, Areas of Highly Complex Nursing

Due to your professional training, the first 3 semesters are recognized, so you only need to complete semesters 4, 5, and 6.

As the first specialization, you have the choice of these exciting modules: Billing and Financing Systems, Controlling and Conflict, Education and General Didactics, Gerontology and Gerontosociology, Evidence-Based Practice.

For the second specialization, you can choose one of these study modules: Leadership and Controlling in Nursing, Lifelong Learning, Gerontopsychiatry and -Psychology, Research Methods, General Studies, Sign Language.

How flexible is the standard study time in the online nursing program?

At IU International University, in the part-time distance learning program, you can choose from 3 study models:

• In the full-time program, the standard study time is 3 semesters or 18 months. You can extend the standard study time by up to 2 semesters or 12 months at no additional cost. The full-time nursing program is particularly suitable for those who are not employed or work only a few hours per week.
• In part-time program I, the standard study time is 4 semesters or 24 months. You can extend the standard study time by up to 2 semesters or 12 months at no additional cost. Part-time program I is suitable, for example, if you work part-time alongside your studies.
• In part-time program II, the standard study time is 6 semesters or 36 months. You can extend the standard study time by up to 2 semesters or 12 months at no additional cost. Part-time program II is particularly suitable if you are heavily involved in your career alongside your distance learning.

By the way, during your studies, you can also take a semester off at no additional cost.

In the nursing distance learning program at IU International University, there is no attendance requirement - you learn continuously from home, in the library of your choice, or wherever you can learn best.

You can choose when to attend your modules and lectures. This way, you can typically put together your study plan and semester schedule flexibly.

Central to the IU distance learning program are your interactive study scripts. The scripts are available to you in printed form as well as digitally as PDFs and for tablets. Through the smart IU Learn app, you have access to scripts for your nursing studies as well as scripts from all other distance learning programs at IU.

Through myCampus, the online campus at IU, you also have access to additional materials, such as videos. You interact with your lecturers and fellow students, for example, in virtual live formats, such as interactive lectures.

And exams? You can choose to take them as online exams. An online exam can be taken 24/7 once you feel adequately prepared for the study material. Alternatively, you can take the exam at one of the numerous IU exam centers throughout Germany.
