Who is the Master Business Engineering at Steinbeis University suitable for?
The Master Business Engineering is aimed at everyone who aspires to an interdisciplinary career at the interface of business and technology. If you already hold a bachelor's degree – especially in business, engineering or computer science – and have a specific interest in digital transformation, technology and innovation management, you will find the suitable specialisation here. Whether you are already working or want to start your career: The work-integrated concept allows you to develop specialist and leadership skills in a corporate context and to productively address the challenges of digitalisation.
Overview of admission requirements
- Degree: Successful first professional qualifying degree (bachelor’s or equivalent) from a university, college or dual university – preferably in business, engineering or (business) computer science. Other fields of study are also possible after individual assessment and depending on prior knowledge.
- Performance level: The completed previous study must be assessed with at least the grade "good" or "very good".
- Professional experience: Usually at least one year of relevant practical experience after the first degree. If practical experience is less than one year, compensation can also be made through additional proof of achievement.
- Combination with a company: The degree programme is only possible in conjunction with a partner company where you carry out your work-related project. Entry is possible both with the current employer (Professional Education) and – for career starters – via the fellowship model and job placement through the university’s network.
- Language skills: Very good German and English skills are expected. The courses and examinations partly take place in German, partly in English.
- Application procedure: Successfully completed selection and application process at SMT or via www.eis-scmt.com.
Note: Two stays abroad are integrated into the programme. In addition, the study model is offered alternately with on-site phases in Berlin or Stuttgart and intensive project work in the company.
Personal requirements and ideal candidates
- Analytical thinking: The ability to understand complex technical and economic contexts and to work out solutions in a structured way.
- Interdisciplinary interest: Enthusiasm for digital technologies and management tasks; willingness to build bridges between technical development and business management issues.
- Self-organisation & initiative: Since the project-competence study requires independent work and responsible project management, you should have pronounced self-management skills.
- Teamwork & communication skills: Communicative skills and intercultural competence are required in changing, often international teams.
- Willingness to learn & openness to new things: Willingness to engage continuously with innovations, new tools and business models.
The degree programme is particularly suitable for working professionals who want to open up new perspectives in technology, management and digitalisation or prepare themselves for leadership roles in interdisciplinary projects. Ambitious career starters who want to be integrated into the SMT network via the fellowship model also benefit.
