Mediadesign University of Applied Sciences (mdh)

The Mediadesign University for Design and Computer Science (mdh) is a private, state-recognized university headquartered in Berlin with additional locations in Düsseldorf and Munich. The university has approximately 693 students (as of the winter semester 2024/25). It was founded in 2004 and has been accredited by the German Council of Science and Humanities since 2010.

The university offers a wide range of bachelor's and master's degree programs in the fields of design, film, games, fashion, IT, business law, and management. The degrees range from Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Science to Master of Arts, Master of Science, and Master of Laws.

Programs are offered in German and English, especially at the Berlin location. The practice-oriented learning concept includes block teaching, small groups (average: 15 people), and intensive supervision by lecturers with direct practical experience. International applicants can participate in a comprehensive preparatory program. An admissions process is required for acceptance.

International partner institutions include, among others, the Guangdong University of Technology, Hunan Normal University, Imperial College London, and Parsons School of Design.

mdh is a member of various professional associations such as the Association of Private Universities, the Federal Association of the Digital Economy, and the MedienCampus Bayern. Collaborations with companies like ICON Group, Wacom, or teachaudio strengthen the practical relevance. Additionally, the university participates in cultural projects such as the development of an exhibition for the Holocaust Museum in Riga.
