Details
The master's degree programme in Psychology with a focus on Legal Psychology at the Faculty of Human Sciences (University) of MSH offers both bachelor's and master's graduates the opportunity to acquire advanced competences in a specialised area of psychology. The content of the master's degree programme in Psychology with a focus on Legal Psychology complements the master's degree programme in Psychology with a focus on Clinical Psychology and Psychotherapy excellently in professional practice on the one hand, while on the other hand representing an independent course offering to expand professional competences in the field of Legal Psychology.
The master's programme aims to qualify students in the application areas of Legal Psychology. Legal Psychology is the overarching term for both Forensic Psychology and Criminal Psychology.
It concerns, on the one hand, the scientific examination of questions regarding the development, maintenance, detection, and punishment as well as prevention of delinquent behaviour. On the other hand, a specialised training has been created for legal psychologists who wish to work in the penal system, forensic psychiatric hospitals (forensic clinics for offenders with mental disorders, correctional facilities), with the police, in outpatient clinics and counselling centres for offenders or victims, or in criminological research institutions. Furthermore, students are trained theoretically and with an intensive practical focus in procedures of psychological assessment.
The master's degree programme is state-recognised and professionally accredited.
