What formal admission requirements do you need to meet?
You can be admitted to the Bachelor's in Public Management if you can demonstrate one of the following requirements:
- General higher education entrance qualification (Abitur) or advanced technical college entrance qualification
- Without Abitur: Completion of a specialised advanced training examination (e.g. Master Craftsman, Specialist, State-certified Business Administrator) or
- Without Abitur: Completed vocational training plus at least three years of professional experience and passing a university entrance examination
- Recognition of prior achievements from further training or previous studies is possible
There is no numerus clausus (NC). You can start the programme at any time and complete your studies flexibly alongside your job.
You should have a basic understanding of social, legal and economic contexts. A sense of responsibility, openness to the public sector and an interest in topics such as digitalisation, sustainability and transformation processes will make it easier for you to get started. Communication skills, analytical competence and the willingness to engage with strategic and organisational issues are particularly important for successful studies. You can take exams monthly online or at 10 exam centres nationwide. The course includes up to 8 days of classroom teaching in Hamburg, which can usually be completed in compact blocks or online.
