DE Admission requirements
The formal requirement for admission to the Master's program in Primary School Pedagogy is a relevant bachelor's degree in the field of education or an equivalent academic degree (e.g. Magister or Diplom).

Your lateral entry into teaching
With the Master's program in Primary Education (M.A.), you have the opportunity to become a teacher as a lateral entrant. This is possible due to the regulation on lateral entry into the teaching profession in the state of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania from July 4, 2022. After completing your M.A. in Primary Education, you can enter the part-time preparatory service (Section 3 (2) SchulSEVO M-V) through an individual examination by the Institute for Quality Development Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. However, the assessment after your graduation is the sole responsibility of the relevant authority (currently IQMV).
Part-time preparatory service – what is it?
You can complete the part-time preparatory service as a teacher without a teaching qualification if you meet the necessary requirements (assessed by the Institute for Quality Development M-V after you have completed your master's degree). You will complete this after 24 months with the Second State Examination and thus receive the qualification of a teaching post. After completing the in-service preparatory service, you will be on an equal footing with regularly trained teachers who have completed a teacher training course (1st state examination) and a teaching internship (2nd state examination).
Important:
The bachelor's and master's programs at the FHM are not equivalent to the 1st state examination or a Master of Education at universities. The FHM takes a different approach, which, after an individual examination by the authorities (IQMV), enables you to become a teacher. With the degree (M.A. Primary Education), we create the conditions for access to the acquisition of a teaching qualification via the aforementioned lateral entry regulation.
