Admission requirements

The distance learning course in vocational education (M.A.) is aimed primarily at graduates in health and social services, enabling them to switch to a career in vocational teaching. Anyone who has already completed an academic first degree, for example in the field of social pedagogy, social work and nursing (among many others), is entitled to apply. The formal requirement for admission to the Master's program in M.A. Vocational Education is a relevant Bachelor's degree in the educational/social/health field or an equivalent academic degree (e.g. Magister or Diplom), as well as one year of professional experience.

Which degree programs are a perfect fit for a possible lateral entry into vocational school teaching:
Bachelor's degrees in social pedagogy, social work, health, nursing, etc. (we will check many other bachelor's degrees individually when you apply).

The M.A. in Vocational Education program prepares you specifically for the special requirements for lateral entry into the teaching profession at vocational schools and medium-sized (educational) companies. This allows you to work in technical colleges, technical academies, vocational schools or other adult education institutions. You will gain in-depth knowledge and skills in the theories, models and methods of imparting knowledge, designing lessons and providing training and further education. The course will enable you to strengthen your professional skills beyond the specialist knowledge and develop solutions to problems in your own teaching or to challenges in your leadership role. In addition to working in schools, you can also work in a conceptual and creative capacity in general vocational training and adult education.
