Admission Requirements

In order to be able to start university studies at the AMD Academy of Fashion and Design, applicants must demonstrate the qualification required for the course of study (university entrance qualification). This is demonstrated by:
- the general university entrance qualification (Abitur), which entitles you to study at all universities and in all federal states,
- or the subject-specific higher education entrance qualification, which entitles you to study in the relevant subject area and in the federal states specified in the certificate,
- or the vocational higher education entrance qualification, which entitles you to study at a university of applied sciences or in a structured degree program at a university in the federal states specified in the certificate.
Alternatively, you can also be admitted without a high school diploma or vocational qualification. Provided that the following conditions are met for studying without a high school diploma:
- You have passed a master craftsman's examination.
- Or you have a qualification in accordance with the Regulation on Access to Higher Education for Professionally Qualified Persons in the State of Hesse, that is, either a qualification from a professional advanced training course of at least 400 hours, a qualification from a technical school or a vocational or administrative academy, or a passed final examination in a state-recognized training occupation with subsequent at least two-year professional activity and passing a separate university entrance examination.
- For foreign qualifications, equivalence must be proven for admission. International applicants with a study qualification in their home country but without a German university entrance qualification can take a 120-minute written and a 30-minute oral examination. A satisfactory result in TestAS, SAT, ACT, ITB, or Gaokao can replace this examination.
For English-language courses of study, English skills at level B2 are required. For German-language courses of study, applicants must demonstrate English skills at level B1, as some classes are held in English. International applicants need German language skills at DSH 1 or TestDaF TDN 3 in addition for German-language courses of study.
