Admission Requirements
In order to start a university course at Hochschule Fresenius, applicants must prove the qualification required for the course (university entrance qualification). This is demonstrated by:
- the general higher education entrance qualification (Abitur), which entitles you to study at all universities and in all federal states,
- or the subject-specific higher education entrance qualification, which entitles you to study in the corresponding subject area and in the federal states listed on the certificate,
- or the university of applied sciences entrance qualification, which entitles you to study at a university of applied sciences or in a consecutive degree programme at a university in the federal states listed on the certificate.
Alternatively, you can also be admitted without the Abitur or university of applied sciences entrance qualification, provided the following applies for study without Abitur:
- You have passed a master craftsman’s examination.
- Or you have a qualification according to the regulation concerning access of professionally qualified persons to universities in the state of Hesse, i.e. either a qualification from a professional advanced training course of at least 400 hours, a graduation from a technical school or a professional or administrative academy, or a passed final examination in a state-recognised vocational training occupation with subsequent professional activity of at least three years and passing a separate university entrance examination.
- For foreign qualifications, equivalence must be proven for admission.

Course Content and Specialisations
As part of the course, prospective graduates engage intensively with fundamentals of business administration, basics of mathematics and statistics, as well as corporate finance and accounting. In addition to an introduction to sports management, students acquire knowledge in the fields of sports tourism, marketing and event management, training and movement science, as well as sports sociology and society. Lectures on the basics of media economics, communication management in sport, leadership and organisational design, as well as an introduction to sports law are also embedded in the curriculum. Within the framework of project studies, students apply their theoretical knowledge in practice.
The study plan includes the following modules:
- 1st semester: Fundamentals of business administration, introduction to sports management, basics of athletic training, accounting, project management and presentation techniques, business mathematics
- 2nd semester: Financial analysis, sports tourism and society, civil law, sports media and sports law, academic work, statistical methods
- 3rd semester: Marketing and market research, organisation of sport, application-related financial management of sport, business communication, specialised commercial law, basics of economics
- 4th semester: International and intercultural management, data science and data analytics, digital transformation, specialisation
- 5th semester: Business simulation game, practical project, business ethics and sustainability, specialisation
- 6th semester: Development and leadership in sport, digital entrepreneurship and innovations, elective module, bachelor colloquium, bachelor thesis
During your studies, you will also deepen your knowledge through exciting elective modules, such as Case Studies in Economic Policy; Emerging Technology Trends; ERP Systems in Companies, Business Informatics; Engagement as a Subject of Individual Education; Digital Programme and Project Management. Furthermore, you will choose one of the two specialisations in sports marketing/sports media or digitalisation.
If you wish, you can also integrate a practical semester into your course of study. If you opt for a practical semester, the standard period of study extends to 7 semesters, and you will earn a total of 210 ECTS credits during your studies.
