Admission requirements
The following qualifications are required for admission to the degree programme in Curative Education and Inclusive Education:
• General higher education entrance qualification (Allgemeine Hochschulreife)
• Advanced technical college entrance qualification (Fachhochschulreife)
• Passed master craftsman’s examination
• Intermediate school leaving certificate (at least Realschulabschluss) and a qualified certificate of a recognised vocational training programme of at least three years, showing an average/overall or final grade of 2.5 or better (if these grades are not documented, the arithmetic mean of the individual subject grades applies)
• Completion of a vocational promotion course of at least 400 teaching hours, a technical college or a vocational or administrative academy*
• Final examination in a state-recognised training occupation with subsequent employment for at least two years in a profession related to the degree programme and passing a separate university entrance examination*
• Trained socio-pedagogical child carers and assistants without a university entrance qualification may be admitted to the university entrance qualification examination (HZB examination) after two years of professionally related employment and begin the degree programme directly as guest students
*according to the regulation on access for professionally qualified persons to universities in the state of Hesse
Further information about specific qualifications is available on request. Applicants who do not meet the above requirements may initially participate in the programme as guest students if admission to the HZB examination is granted.
For foreign qualifications, equivalence must be demonstrated for admission.

Special Needs Education and Inclusive Education is an interdisciplinary professional field with societal and socio-political relevance. It is a profession and a field of work located between education and medicine. There is still a high demand for specialists in the professional field of Special Needs Education and Inclusive Education. Graduates of the degree programme have acquired a broad spectrum of competences and skills for working with people in special life situations.
The Bachelor's degree programme “Special Needs Education and Inclusive Education” (B.A.) is designed as an 8-semester (online) distance learning course aimed at enabling students to act competently in the professional field of Special Needs Education and Inclusive Education. You acquire knowledge about theoretical and methodological foundations and develop qualifications in the areas of special needs education, inclusive education, sociology, social psychology, and medicine. Furthermore, students engage with special needs educational methods and forms of intervention. You learn about relevant laws and enhance your competences in diagnostics and counselling.
During your studies, you can also choose your personal, professionally oriented focus to further deepen your abilities.

Course structure
At DIPLOMA University, you have the option to study the Bachelor’s degree programme Special Needs Education and Inclusive Education in one of three variants: as an online course, as on-site distance learning, or as full-time face-to-face study.
The (online) distance learning course at DIPLOMA University is designed according to the “blended learning” principle. This means you work through the course content with the help of study booklets and attend seminars. These usually take place on 12 to 14 Saturdays per semester – in some cases also on weekday evenings. In the online course, these take place as live online seminars. You can also take your exams online or at an examination centre of your choice. In the on-site distance learning, you complete your real face-to-face seminars and exams at your chosen study centre – in Leipzig.
Costs & start of studies
The (online) distance learning course at DIPLOMA University starts every year in the summer semester (April) and the winter semester (October). Starting the studies is – after individual review – also possible at any other time.
The full-time face-to-face study begins once a year in the winter semester (October).
You can choose one of four financing models. For example, the installment model 3, with €157.00 per month and a term of 72 months.
