📖 Course contents The M.A. Health Education study programme qualifies graduates to: - critically engage with professional policy and pedagogical (educational science) theories on the basis of sound theoretical knowledge and to establish the connection to educational practice, - demonstrate teamwork skills and empathy towards others in relation to the role as an educational professional in vocational training, continuing education, and further training, - evaluate the effectiveness of their own professional actions and adapt or develop new strategies, - recognise social developments, - contribute to scientific research through knowledge of various research methods, - integrate knowledge into more complex contexts as well as act responsibly and engage in civil society and civic participation, - independently deepen their specialised and pedagogical-didactic knowledge.

Admission requirements

Formal admission requirement for the M.A. Health Education programme is, according to §9 paragraph 5, HZG Bb, proof of a first professional qualifying bachelor's degree in the therapeutic or nursing field with at least 210 ECTS credits or equivalent (e.g. bachelor's degree in speech therapy, occupational therapy, patholinguistics, physiotherapy, preclinical care & emergency services, applied health sciences, among others)

The master's programme can be completed both with bachelor's degrees in the pedagogical field as well as with a bachelor's degree from the healthcare sector, whereby modules in the first two semesters partially differ (see study plan).

Selection procedure

The selection procedure for the M.A. Health Education master's programme consists of two stages:

  • Application: Compliance with the formal admission requirements
  • Admission interview: Presentation of the applicant and their career path, presentation of the bachelor's thesis, explanation of the motivation for the master's programme, discussion and planning of the individual module composition in the master's programme

The admission procedure is regulated in the study and examination regulations of the programme. The programme director decides on admission according to established criteria.

Details

The Master's degree programme in Health Education prepares students for the role of an educational specialist, practical instructor, mentor and/or tutor.

The programme also qualifies graduates for work as an expert assessor and/or consultant in the healthcare sector, in personnel and organisational development within health companies, associations, health insurance funds, health and social institutions, prevention centres, organisations of independent welfare work and youth services, in care homes, social counselling centres, and others.
