Admission Requirements
In order to start a university study at the AMD Academy Fashion and Design, applicants must provide the qualification required for the study program (university entrance qualification). This is proven by:
- the general higher education entrance qualification (Abitur), which entitles you to study at all universities and in all federal states,
- or the subject-specific higher education entrance qualification, which entitles you to study in the corresponding subject area and in the federal states specified in the certificate,
- or the vocational baccalaureate, which entitles you to study at a university of applied sciences or in a graduated program at a university in the federal states specified in the certificate.
Alternatively, you can also be admitted without Abitur or vocational baccalaureate. Provided the following for admission without Abitur:
- You have passed a master's examination.
- Or you have a qualification according to the Regulation on Access of Professionally Qualified Persons to University in the State of Hesse, which means either a qualification from a professional advanced training of at least 400 hours, a qualification from a technical school or a vocational or administrative academy, or a passed final examination in a state-recognized training occupation with at least two years of subsequent professional experience and passing a separate university entrance examination.
- For foreign qualifications, equivalence must be proven for admission. International applicants with a study permit in their home country, but without a German university entrance qualification, can take a 120-minute written and a 30-minute oral exam. Satisfactory results in TestAS, SAT, ACT, ITB, or Gaokao can replace this exam.
For English-language study programs, English language skills at level B2 are required. For German-language study programs, applicants must demonstrate English language skills at level B1, as some courses are held in English. International applicants also need German language skills at DSH 1 or TestDaF TDN 3 for German-language study programs.
Study Contents and Specializations
The part-time degree programme Fashion & Design Management (B.A.) offers a practical and interdisciplinary education in the field of the fashion and design industry. Students acquire comprehensive business basics and specific knowledge in design management, which qualifies them for various fields such as product management, sales, marketing, and sustainable practices.
In addition to theoretical content, students benefit from a high level of practical relevance through experienced industry lecturers. The flexible online format of the programme allows working professionals to integrate their studies optimally into their daily lives, with live lectures taking place two evenings a week and two Saturdays per month.
The study plan includes the following modules:
- 1st Semester: Introduction to Business Administration, Accounting and Cost Accounting, Basics of Fashion Business, Communication and Presentation, Visual Communication I
- 2nd Semester: Cultural History I, Academic Writing I, Digital Transformation, Material and Product in Context I, Visual Communication II
- 3rd Semester: Cultural History II, Marketing and Market Research, Material and Product in Context II, Descriptive and Inductive Statistics, Commercial, Corporate, and Labor Law
- 4th Semester: Digital Product Development, Marketing in Global Markets, Communication Management, Fashion Theory I, Fashion Manufacturing I
- 5th Semester: Leadership, Media, Ethics and Society, Digital Product Management, Fashion Manufacturing II, Fashion Theory II
- 6th Semester: Strategic and International Management, Specialization of Choice
- 7th Semester: Project Management, Digital Entrepreneurship and Innovations, Bachelor's Thesis, Bachelor Colloquium
In the sixth semester, you deepen your studies in one of these exciting specialisations: Marketing Management, Sales Management, or Event Management.
Upon graduation, the programme offers graduates the opportunity to pursue an advanced Master's degree at AMD in areas such as Fashion Management or Brand Management.

- Sustainable Design, B.A.: Students learn to develop innovative and sustainable design solutions that consider ecological, social, and economic aspects. The programme imparts a wide range of design skills and knowledge in design theory, materials, and product development. Through practical projects and workshops, students are encouraged to develop their own sustainable design concepts.
- Brand and Communication Design, B.A.: This programme systematically combines strategic communication with creative design and provides a broad knowledge of brands, communication, and current technologies over 7 semesters.
